'Record' power generation in 2019.

LAHORE -- The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) says 2019 proved a historic year for the development of water and hydropower resources, with a record hydel power generation adding over 34 billion units of low-cost energy to the national grid besides launch of construction work on Mohmand Dam.

'The hydel power stations owned and operated by Wapda provided 34.678 billion units of hydel electricity - the highest-ever contribution - to the system in 2019. This quantum of generation is 6.321 billion units more while comparing with that of the last year i.e. 28.357 billion units,' said a spokesman for the authority in a press release on Friday.
