Record 8,000 students get admission to IBU: VC.

BAHAWALPUR -- For the first time, as many as 8,000 students have been granted admission to the Islamia University Bhawalpur this year which is double than the number of students enrolled for 122 morning and 84 evening programmes of the varsity.

This was claimed by the IUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Athar Mehboob at a press conference held here on Wednesday at the Syndicate Room of the varsity where the new academic year began.

The VC said the efforts were on to bring the IUB on a par with the top universities of the world in the next five years, adding that all available resources would be utilised for the purpose and its infrastructure would also be strengthened.

He said since he assumed the charge about three months ago, eight selection boards were held to recruit more than 100 teachers, while more would be hired during the next six months.

The VC He pledged transparency in the university's affair and said more programmes were being planned with the beginning of new semester during which a nursing institute would also be established at the IUB to meet the growing demand in the health sector across the country.

He said the university would also set up a bio-gas project, besides solar energy and sewage treatment plants, while its veterinary college would be upgraded.

He said Khawaja Fareed Chair would be restored in the university and a conference would be organised in this connection in December.
