Reasons behind differences between IG Sindh, provincial govt emerge.

KARACHI -- Differences emerged between the Sindh government and Inspector General of Sindh Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam over the issue of appointment of new IGP Sindh, sources told.

According to sources, the arrest of Saeed Jamali, the brother of a political figure from Dadu is reported to have been the main reason behind the differences between the Sindh government and Inspector General of Sindh Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam.

Sources further said that Saeed Jamali was involved in torturing officials of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO).

On the other hand, the second reason behind the differences between the IGP Sindh and provincial government is the arrest of the son of a political figure who thrashed police personnel, the differences also emerged on the funds for the renovation of police stations.

In addition, the arrest of a prominent political leader in Badin and the recovery of former Sindh minister Zulfiqar Mirza s 1200 acres land also caused differences between Syed Murad Ali Shah's Sindh government and Kaleem Imam.

Muhammed Sallah Shahlani's, an alleged dacoit, arrest on charges of killing 5 policemen also created tensions.

On January 28, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Kaleem Imam, while reacting to certain speculations that he has been transferred from his post, said on Tuesday that he 'won't leave that easily and he has not yet been transferred.'
