Rally expresses solidarity with Palestinians.

ISLAMABAD -- Like most parts of the country Al-Quds Day was also observed in the capital on Friday.

The rally was jointly organised by Milli Yekjehti Council (MYC), Majlis-i-Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM), Shia Ulema Council (SUC), Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) and Jafaria Students Organisation.

Observed on the last Friday of Ramazan, the day is marked to condemn Israeli occupation of Jerusalem, one of the holiest places for Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Due to Covid-19 and in view of the SOPs put in place by the authorities, participation was limited this year. Women and children were not allowed to participate.

The rally started from G-6 Imambargah and marched till D-Chowk.

Speaking on the occasion at D- Chowk, Allama Nasir Abbas said the observance of Al-Quds Day was initiated on the directives of leader of Iranian revolution Ayatullah Khomeini who had said that if the Palestinian cause was forgotten, the Zionists would eventually demolish Al Aqsa Mosque.
