QWP rejects graft charges against Sherpao.

PESHAWAR -- The Qaumi Watan Party has rejected corruption allegations against its chairman, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, and declared them 'totally baseless'.

In a statement here on Thursday, the QWP said recently, the media reported certain false and misleading statements of Broadsheet LLC and its owner Kaveh Moussavi against its chief (Sherpao) among others.

'The QWP strongly denies and rejects these statements. The allegations are meant to deliberately twist facts and defame Mr Sherpao.'

The QWP said the Broadsheet LLC was a dubious organisation that, due to its questionable financial arrangements and claims against national accountability bureau (NAB), had been running a malicious campaign against Pakistan.

'It is unfortunate that the government, in order to hide its own failures, instead of countering the malicious campaign against the country is attempting to use these statements against Mr Sherpao, who is a prominent leader of the opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement,' it said.

The QWP said in late 1990s, the NAB made a number of politically-motivated cases against Mr Sherpao, who faced trial in each of them and was acquitted by the courts of Pakistan.
