QWP pledges to protect 18th Amendment.

PESHAWAR -- Qaumi Watan Party has threatened to launch a protest movement against the government if it tries to reverse the 18th Amendment.

QWP chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao in a statement here on Thursday said that federal government failed to contain Covid-19 pandemic, therefore, the prime minister was trying to divert the attention of the opposition by talking against the 18th Amendment.

Rejecting the prime minister's remarks that 18th Amendment was enacted in haste, Mr Sherpao said those wishing to roll back the law would have to bite the dust. He said that indulging in non-issues was no service to the country.

'The 18th Amendment was made after eight months of deliberation and hard work,' he recalled. He said that it would damage the federation if an attempt was made to reverse the 18th Amendment.

'We will resist the move to roll back the 18th Amendment as it amounts to usurping the rights of the smaller provinces,' he said.

The QWP leader claimed that prime minister was attempting to introduce presidential form of government in the country but it was not acceptable to the opposition parties.
