Qureshi schools NA speaker for accepting resignations of 34 PTI lawmakers.

LAHORE -- As National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf accepted the resignations of 34 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers, the party's vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi slammed the former on Tuesday.

Speaking to media, the former federal minister took a dig at Mr Ashraf, asking him to denotify 125 PTI lawmakers rather than 34. He made it clear to Mr Ashraf the PTI had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against him "for his double standards."

He claimed that many of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) lawmakers had shown interest in joining the PTI. Mr Qureshi added, "Everyone is aware of the fact that, for what purposes, such decisions are being taken."

Mr Qureshi slammed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), claiming that PTI members were de-notified in order to shorten the run-off.
