Queen of Spades clinches Stewards Cup.

KARACHI -- Thoroughbred co-favourite filly Queen of Spades came from behind to register a fluent five lengths victory over another filly Blazing Arrow to clinch the Stewards Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting here at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Making amends, the victorious filly clocked one minute 29 seconds for seven furlongs distance with rider Zaki Zakir astride.

Chestnut horse Thunder Star had to be content with third place three-and-a-half lengths behind while bay horse Zaheer Choice completed the frame another six lengths away.

Horses from the stables of Syed Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara earned him and trainer Mohyuddin a treble in a six-race card. Rider Sohail Ahmed ended the day with a brace (Trouble Princess and Heer).

The Youngster Cup ended in a blaze of glory for debutant filly Princess Sadia who galloped to a four lengths victory over another debutant filly Cheer Leader.

She won in 0.593/5 seconds in the four-and-a-half furlongs contest.

Filly Love Story fell third by a length-and-a-quarter and was followed by public fancy colt Valentino another six lengths behind.

Bay horse Faisal King won the opening race edging fellow co-favourite mare Basanti by short head. He was home in 0.55 seconds in four furlongs race.
