Quality cotton in short supply.

KARACHI -- Trading on cotton market remained slow and restricted as buyers remained focused on quality cotton on Saturday.

The year-end consideration weighed heavily on the intraday trade. But short supply of quality cotton remained the main cause of slow trading, brokers said.

The heavy fog in Punjab has almost stopped cotton picking and ginners have also reduced their activities. The rising demand for cotton yarn was an encouraging factor for cotton trade, brokers added.

On the global front, markets remained mixed to easy with New York cotton steady, whereas Chinese markets were mixed and India remained under pressure.
