Punjab governor may announce elections date in next 24 hours.

Amid the political lurch in the country's largest province after the dissolution of the provincial legislature by the Pakistan Tehreeke-e-Insaf (PTI) led Punjab government, Governor Balighur Rehman is likely to announce the date of elections in next 24 hours.

Under Articles 105, 224A, and 224 of the constitution, Punjab governor has to announce the election date before the formation of the caretaker set-up. While tomorrow (January 20) is the last date for the Parliamentary committee to appoint a caretaker chief minister.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi lambasted on Wednesday his political opponents, saying they were doing politics on the matter of the caretaker chief minister.
