Punjab Assembly passes 8 bills, Opposition stages walk-out.

LAHORE -- The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed eight bills, a rare happening on private members day.

Amid walkout from the Opposition, Treasury got passed the Punjab Sugar Factories Control (Amendment) Bill 2020; the Punjab Infectious Diseases (Prevention and Control) Bill; Ravi Urban Development Authority; Punjab Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2021; Lahore Central District Business Authority Bill 2021; Punjab Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates Bill, Punjab Enforcement of Women Property Rights Bill 2021; and Emerson University Multan, Bill.

Whereas the University of Child Health Sciences Bill 2021 and Punjab Educational Institutions Bill 2021 were introduced.

The session started two hours 50 minutes behind the scheduled time with Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in the chair.

Criticising Treasury for putting government business on the agenda on private members day, the Opposition members staged walkout from the House.
