PTV MD removed over 'begging' goof-up.

ISLAMABAD -- Just after a week of appointment, Col (retd) Hassan Immad Mohammadi has been removed from the post of Managing Director of Pakistan Television Corporation with the approval of Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry over displaying slug 'Begging' instead of Beijing during Prime Minister Imran Khan live address during his visit to China two-days back.

The PTV Management has also issued show cause notices to Director News Shazia Sikandar, Director Current Affairs Riffat Nazir and Director Information Technology Muhammad Kashif and directed them to appear before an inquiry committee and clear their positions in this regard. The management has also suspended the three employees who were present on production panel during the Khan's speech.

According to the notification issued by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting: 'In supersession of this Ministry's office Order of even number dated 22-10-2018, the look after charge of Col. (Retd) Hassan Immad Muhammadi, Director PTVC as Managing Director PTVC is withdrawn with immediate effect till further orders. This issues with the approval of Minister for Information and Broadcasting.'

People criticised the federal government and the state-owned TV management over displaying the slug of 'Begging' during the speech of PM at a function in China. The PTV admitted its mistake and wrote on its twitter: 'Today during the live address of prime minister in China, a typographical error took place, which remained on screen for 20 seconds and was later removed. Strict action has been initiated under rules against officials concerned.'
