PTI's councilor-elect arrested under ATA.

DADU -- Police lodged two FIRs against Niaz Ahmed Buriro, general secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Dadu district, and councillor-elect from ward No6 Mehar under sections of Anti-Terrorism Act on Wednesday.

Mehar police registered the case on a complaint lodged by Imtiaz Butt, brother of Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Fayaz Butt under sections 324, 427, 506/2, 337, 147, 148, 149 PPC and 6/7 ATA.

Butt alleged in the FIR that Niaz Buriro along with Hashim Buriro, Ali Asghar and Zubair Samoon attacked him with Kalashnikov rifles when he was returning from Butt Sirai village to Karachi but luckily he escaped unhurt. They fled away in a black Vego after the attack, he said.

Police arrested Buriro after a late night raid on his house in Mehar town on Tuesday and shifted him to an unknown location when he remained throughout the night.

Local PTI sources said that the action against Buriro followed his statement on social media against PPP MPA Fayaz Butt a day before.

Meanwhile, activists of PTI staged rallies in Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Dadu and Johi towns against Buriro's arrest and staged a demonstration on Mehar-Larkana section of the Indus Highway, bringing traffic to a halt.

Former Sindh chief minister, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, who led the protest, said that even though Sindh government had ensured PPP's victory through the worst rigging, it could not digest PTI's victory in Dadu district. PPP should stop...
