Provincial autonomy must for national development, says Babak.

LOWER DIR -- Awami National Party central general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak has linked provincial autonomy to realising the dream of a progressive and prosperous Pakistan.

He was addressing a public meeting in Yousefi village of Swabi organised to honour an influential leader, Bashir Khan, who quit Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and joined ANP on Saturday.

'Our natural resources are being devoured by other people. Pakhtuns have been displaced from their own homes, forced to lead a miserable life,' he said.

He wondered how Pakistan could become an Asian tiger without granting autonomy to provinces first.

He insisted politics of ANP was not for getting power but for getting the provincial autonomy. He said KP produced surplus electricity, but its residents were facing excessive power outages.

He appealed to leaders of Pakhtuns to get united and fight for rights of the people. 'To resolve the collective problems of Pakhtuns, there must be collective thinking and a joint approach,' he underlined.

Mr Babak asked the government to protect the poor from rising inflation.

Meanwhile, addressing the prize distribution ceremony at the conclusion of the second edition of Farmanullah Shaheed football tournament held at Mian Kallay area of Jandol in Lower Dir, Mr Babak said the previous Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had pushed the opposition parties against the wall.
