Protest against police failure to recover kidnapped teenager.

KASUR -- Residents of Ghosiabad locality of Chunian on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against police for their failure to recover a teenager kidnapped some three months back.

Muhammad Shahzad, 17, a resident of Ghosiabad, was kidnapped in Feb this year and police had registered a case against three nominated suspects, all of them residents of Lahore.

The protesters, who were holding placards inscribed with anti-police slogans, gathered outside the office of Chunian deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and alleged that the police arrested the suspects, but later released them after 'soft' interrogation. They also alleged the police received bribe to release the suspects.

They demanded Chief Minister Usman Buzdar should look into the matter and order immediate arrest of the suspects and Shahzad's recovery.

Later, on the assurance of local administration that justice would be done, the protesters dispersed.

Mother of the kidnapped boy told local media that the suspects had contacted the family in Februaryon phone and asked them to reach Data Darbar, Lahore, to get Shahzad. However, when the family reached Lahore, the suspects' phone went silent, she added.
