Prosecutors urged to improve performance.

PESHAWAR -- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general, Aamir Javed, said here on Saturday that prosecution was an integral part of criminal justice system.

He said that there was need to improve the performance of prosecuters to minimise chances of acquittal of accused persons in important cases.

He was chairing a meeting of district public prosecutors from across the province.

He said that the prosecution service was vital for provision of justice. If the prosecutors improved their performance, it would help in dispensation of justice to ordinary people, he added.

Mr Javed assured the district prosecutors that he was fully aware of the problems faced by them and would talk to the government in that regard.

The meeting was also attended by additional advocates general Umer Farooq, Danyal Khan Chamkani, Mohammad Nisar and Jalaluddin Akber Gara and president and general secretary of KP Prosecution Association, Sangeen Shah and Javed Mohmand, respectively.

The district prosecutors briefed the advocate general about the mechanism they had been adopting in government cases and the problems faced by them while pursing those cases.
