Professional tax on teachers rejected.

KARAK -- Tanzeem-i-Asataza Pakistan on Saturday rejected professional tax on teachers and decided to move court against it.

The teachers' body provincial president, Khairullah Hawari, said in a press statement here that teachers were already paying income tax from their salaries and imposition of the professional tax was beyond any logic.

He said that on the one side the government had denied provision of the already approved teaching allowance to the teachers, on the other an additional tax in the name of professional tax was being slapped on them.

Mr Hawari regretted that no increase was made in their salaries by the government in annual budget 2020-21. He demanded of the government to withdraw the decision of imposing professional tax on teachers otherwise they would move court against it.
