Prime accused in murder case of two PPP activists, two police guards released on bail.

SANGHAR -- The two prime accused in the infamous Sanghar rally attack case of December 2015 were released on bail on Monday after the aggrieved side withdrew its objection reportedly in lieu of a Rs28 million compensation against loss of four lives - two Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) activists and two police guards - as per a settlement reached earlier in a jirga (tribal court).

Accused Dadan Nizamani and Aamir alias Ballo Nizamani, are being tried in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) for their alleged involvement in an armed clash that had taken place during electioneering for local government polls.

The incident occurred when PPP activists led by former senator Fida Hussain Dero and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) activists came face to face near Catholic Church on Dec 15, 2015.

Two PPP activists, Gul Mohammad Marri and Gul Mohammad Shah, and Mr Dero's two police guards, Nabi Bux Dero and Ashique Marri, were killed in the clash.

A nephew of Mr Dero was among the seven other PPP activists who were wounded in the incident.

The PPP side had accused PML-F of attacking its rally and nominated 30 suspects, which included PML-F MPA Waryam Faqir Khaskheli, Pir Pagara's representative (khalifa) Ali Ghulam Nizamani, former MNA Ghulam Dastgir...
