Primary schoolteachers demand promotion as per qualification.

TAXILA -- The educators of the provincial school education department have demanded promotion as per their educational and professional qualification.

The educators made the demand at a convention held in Attock on Friday.

They said the successive provincial governments kept upgrading the basic pay scales of the government employees, including teachers.

But the educators serving in schools as primary science teachers (PST), elementary science teacher (EST) and secondary science teacher (SST) were ignored despite the fact they fulfilled the criteria, they maintained.

They said the incumbent PTI-led provincial government is following in the footsteps of its predecessors, and using delaying tactics to give pay scale and general pay scale to primary teachers.

'We will not tolerate the injustice and discrimination with qualified primary schoolteachers,' one of the speakers said.

He said they had complained against what he called poor service structure but to no avail.

Speaking at the convention, Punjab Scholars Unity Chairman Zulqarnian Malik demanded that the public sector schoolteachers in the province holding MPhil qualification should be given BPS-17 and PhDs should be put into BPS-18.

He said the primary teachers were playing vital role in promotion of education across the province.
