President calls for world peace for development.

LAHORE -- President Dr Arif Alvi says peace is not only the priority of Pakistan but of the entire world as it can guarantee people's prosperity and development of all the countries.

Speaking at a conference on youth mobilisation on peace building that had foreign students visiting Pakistan under the International Students Week in Pakistan (ISWIP) at Alhamra Hall on Saturday, Dr Alvi said Prime Minister Imran Khan's first message after assuming his office was about peace.

He said the people of India-held Kashmir were under great stress and trauma as they were being denied even their basic rights. He urged the world community to play its effective role to bring about peace in the valley ensuring the rights of the Kasmiris.

Quoting PM Khan, he said Pakistan, India and other countries of the developing world were facing similar issues, including peace and security, and it was high time that the world nations and bodies intervened for peace, paving the way for human development and prosperity.

'It is easy to start a war but it has its own dynamics as once started, it goes out of the control of even its perpetrators,' he said. Since the war was not a solution to any problem, he said, the world community...
