President Alvi urges medical universities to focus on nursing programs by increasing number of nursing students.

ISLAMABAD -- President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged the medical universities to focus on nursing programs by increasing the number of nursing students so as to meet the shortage of nurses in the country. He asked the medical universities to improve the quality and standard of medical education to make it attractive for foreign students.

The President gave these directions while chairing the Senate meeting of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), at Aiwan-e-Sadr, on Thursday.

The Vice Chancellor of SZABMU, Professor Tanwir Khaliq, gave a presentation about the role of university in providing medical education. The meeting endorsed the minutes of the first Senate Committee as well as approved service rules for the university.
