Premier's nephew secures pre-arrest bail from ATC.

LAHORE -- Advocate Hassaan Niazi, nephew of Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Friday secured pre-arrest bail from an anti-terrorism court in the case of hooliganism at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) by a group of lawyers.

Several attempts by police to arrest him remained unsuccessful as he went into hiding since his videos showing participation in last week's lawyers' violent protest went viral on the social media.

On Friday, he along with his father Hafeezullah Khan Niazi and counsel appeared before the court.

The court granted him pre-arrest bail subject to furnishing two surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.

Later, Advocate Niazi expressed his 'grievance' at a press conference saying he had been painted as a criminal in the media.

He denied having any role in torching a police van outside the hospital and claimed that he instead approached the van only to check if there was anyone inside it.
