KARACHI -- The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is expected to announce its candidates for the positions of Karachi mayor and deputy mayor in the upcoming week.

Sources revealed on Sunday that the PPP is likely to decline the request made by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to accommodate their candidate for the deputy mayor position.

The delay in announcing the appointments of mayor and deputy mayor was attributed to the absence of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari from the country.
