Power transformer in Landi Kotal goes out of order again.

LANDI KOTAL -- The newly installed transformer at Landi Kotal grid station failed to bear the load of eight feeders providing electricity to most parts of the area and went out of order only a day after its replacement.

The grid staff said that the newly installed transformer was put off test run before making it fully operational after its replacement two days ago. One of the two main transformers developed a technical fault some two weeks ago that resulted in a sudden surge in loadshedding up to 20 hours during Ramazan.

The staff members said that they had to put extra load of eight feeders on a single transformer during a week of replacing the faulty machine that resulted in excessive loadshedding.

Earlier, the grid station staff in the beginning of Ramazan had assured the residents of Landi Kotal of supply of electricity for at least 10 hours daily. The plan, however, hit snags after one the two transformers developed fault and was later replaced. The staff members said that they communicated failure of the new machine to the authorities concerned and were awaiting a reply for yet another replacement of the faulty transformer.
