Positivity Increase.

After months of perceived peace and normalcy, it seems as though Covid-19 is making a comeback as the positivity ratio in cities like Karachi and Hyderabad rose to 10 percent in the last 80 days. This is a trajectory that we have been on before and if action is not taken at this point in time, the virus will continue to spread. Most restrictions have been ignored and people have resumed living life as if the pandemic never happened. Even a minor mistake or slight mishandling of the situation could push back progress immensely.

According to a National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) senior member, Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, the reason why cases are rising is because not only have all preventative protocols been thrown out the window but the effectiveness of the vaccine is reducing. In order to maintain it, the public must remain up to date with booster shots so that it keeps immunity levels high. Otherwise, people are more susceptible to contracting the virus especially when it has mutated into various other variants.

Stronger protective walls must be put up against Covid-19 which is taking on a more sinister character by being more contagious and resistant to vaccines. Emphasis must be placed upon getting the booster shots with the same urgency as it was...
