Polio refusal cases covered in Lakki.

LAKKI MARWAT -- As many as 39 children were immunised against polio in Naurang town here on Sunday during a special drive to cover refusal cases.

Such cases were reported from several parts of the district after the recent anti-polio drive.

The vaccinators approached the parents and tried to convince them on vaccination of their children against the crippling disease, but to no avail.

Later, deputy commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir tasked Naurang additional assistant commissioner Aminullah Khan to ensure coverage of the refusal cases.

Mr Khan along with chairman union council polio eradication committee, secretary union council and polio workers visited the houses of reluctant parents in different localities. After successful sessions with the reluctant parents as many as 39 children were vaccinated to protect them from polio.

Talking to the parents earlier, Mr Khan said that oral polio vaccine was safe for children and had no adverse effects on human health. He said that the unvaccinated children were posing a serious threat to the healthy ones.
