Polio eradication drive in Balochistan begins today.

QUETTA -- Against the backdrop of detection of new polio cases in the country, the Emergency Operation Centre, Balochistan, has decided to launch a special four-day vaccination campaign in 13 districts of the province.

The coordinator of the centre, Rashid Razzaq, said that the campaign will begin from Monday (today).

The vaccination campaign will be launched in Quetta, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi, Sibi, Suhbat Pur, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Dukki, Harnai and Ziarat districts.

This year seven cases of polio have so far been reported from Balochistan - three from Qila Abdullah, two from Jaffarabad and one each from Quetta and Harnai.

Mr Razzaq said more than 1.3 million children below the age of five would be administered polio drops...
