Polio case surfaces in Karak.

PESHAWAR -- A new polio case has surfaced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after which the toll in the province this year has mounted to 12. According to the Health Department officials, the fresh case has surfaced from Takht Nasrati area of Karak district where a 14- month-old boy has been diagnosed with poliovirus. With the emergence of fresh polio case, the tally in Pakistan this year has mounted to 22, with most of cases emerging from KP. While in KP, most cases have emerged from Lakki Marwat. Pakistan had controlled poliovirus to a great extent in 2017 and 2018 during which only eight and 12 cases were reported respectively. But the 2019 proved a precarious year for antipolio efforts as 144 cases were reported and now the 2020 has also started dangerously with 22 cases in the first less than two months.
