Police want future public meetings shifted to some other venue.

RAWALPINDI -- Though foolproof security was provided to PPP public meeting in Liaquat Bagh on Friday, the police have decided to ask the district administration to select some other venue for future public meetings.

City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Ahsan Younas told Dawn that he would suggest to the district administration to identify some other place for public rallies as it was difficult for the law enforcement to secure Liaquat Bagh due to increasing population and high rise buildings around it.

He said more than 1,500 police officials were deployed for PPP meeting. Besides, he said, well-trained snipers equipped with binoculars were also detailed on the buildings around the venue. Tactical Action Group equipped with the latest technology also monitored the movement of people.

The Elite Force, women police, district police and traffic wardens were also among the security details.
