THIS is apropos letter 'Covid-19: traffic police' (June 19).

The Karachi traffic police have been regularly taking action against traffic violations, especially violations pertaining to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at preventing and controlling the spread of Covid-19.

In this context, the traffic police's drive has been continuing since March, and a very large number of tickets (Challans) have been issued to vehicles violating the SOPs. The violators include rickshaws, buses, motorcycles, cars and jeeps. Since March, 561, 281 tickets have been issued and fines imposed
