Police officials warned against using illegal means for transfer, posting.

ISLAMABAD -- The chief of the capital police has warned his subordinates to stop trying to influence him and other officers concerned for their posting and transfer.

In a written order, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akbar Nasir Khan warned the officials that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those trying to influence him for their transfer and posting by bringing recommendations from influential people.

Senior police officers told Dawn on condition of anonymity that the police chief received dozens of recommendations daily from influential people, including politicians, for the transfer and posting of officials. Entertaining the recommendations is difficult for the police chief as some of them conflict with each other, they added.

Multiple recommendations for the officials and officers were received for same posts, the officers said, adding these recommendations were made to police chief and his deputy.
