Police official among 17 muggers arrested in Peshawar.

PESHAWAR -- The police have arrested 17 muggers, including a policeman, from different parts of the city, for mobile phone snatching and other crimes.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, SSP operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi said that the muggers belonged to four different gangs.

He said that the Shahpur, Khazana and Regi police stations had made the arrests.

SSP Abbasi said the gang also included IT experts, who used to change the mobile phone IMEI. Besides, he said that the muggers were involved in selling the phones snatched from Karachi and other parts of the country.

The police officer said after IMEI tempering, the stolen phones were smuggled to Afghanistan.
