Police launch crackdown on kite flying.

RAWALPINDI -- Police launched a crackdown on kite flyers and sellers.

Police vehicles, carrying ladders to climb on rooftops, remained on patrol in different areas.

The operation will be intensified today (Friday) because some people are flying kites despite a government ban on the activity.

Special squads have been formed to implement the ban and police have started regular patrols while making announcements on megaphones. Police have also been provided wooden ladders to climb on rooftops of houses and binoculars to identify the flyers.

Owners of all buildings where kite flying is being carried out will be arrested, said Superintendant of Police (Potohar) Syed Ali.
