PML-N withdraws no-trust motion against speaker, deputy speaker.

LAHORE -- Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) withdrew on Monday its no-confidence motion against the speaker and deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly.

Sources privy to the matter said that the PML-N withdrew the no-confidence motion for failing to change the order of numbers in the Punjab Assembly., while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf' (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) alliance had a clear edge.

Despite the efforts of former president Asif Ali Zardari and the PML-N, the number games were not completed, and the no-confidence motion against the speaker and deputy speaker was withdrawn in the name of a change of strategy for failing to change the order of numbers in the Punjab Assembly.

Earlier, the PML-N had withdrawn the no-confidence motion against the Punjab Chief Minister, It was said that now the PML-N focused on the vote of confidence against the Punjab Chief Minister instead of the Speaker.

PML-N supremo and former three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif has directed his party to expedite preparations for the upcoming general elections.

Sources said Sharif also asked his party to roll up the sleeves amid developing political situation in the Punjab as Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi is expected to seek vote of confidence from the provincial assembly this month.

It also emerged that the Governor House and the State Guest House would be opened for PML-N leaders to hold open courts where they would listen to the public issues and take steps to address them.
