PML-N refutes charges against Shahbaz.

ISLAMABAD -- PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday rejected allegations levelled against National Assembly Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif and said Shahzad Akbar, the special assistant to the prime minister on accountability, should take his so-called proof to the court rather than his 'usual circus' at press conferences.

In a statement, Ms Aurangzeb said the party's president Mr Sharif was not connected to any of the companies named by Mr Akbar in a press conference as his 'front companies'.

She said the government was trying to hide dying Pakistanis with the fog of a smear campaign against Mr Sharif.

If he had been connected to any of the cheques, she said, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would have been in court and not at one of its press conferences waving fake documents. She said that if these accusations had evidential support, NAB would not have withdrawn its cases against Mr Sharif in the Supreme Court.

'After being shamefully embarrassed and rebuked by the courts, NAB has now transformed its political victimisation into a media trial. Not only is NAB offered to be used and abused as a pet and a tool of this government for persecution of opposition, but has failed miserably at all its efforts to silence the voice of the people's representatives despite its vengeful tactics. If NAB has any single plausible evidence, and an inkling of honour, it should take it to court and also make it public. Shahzad Akbar should stop his cheap parlour tricks at PID...
