PMDC issues 4, registration certificates in two months.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), which remained dysfunctional for almost six months, has issued more than 4, registration certificates and completed 4, verifications in two months.

PMDC Registrar retired Brig Dr Hafizuddin Ahmad Siddiqui said the council had been working efficiently to clear the backlog despite Covid-9.

According to a statement, approximately 28 new cases of experience have been disposed of. The PMDC received 233 cases of faculty registration from which 93 have been disposed of. Moreover, 29 objections on cases have been sent back to doctors for rectification.

The PMDC registrar also added that almost 4, verifications (local and international) have been done on urgent basis so that the cases could be disposed of as soon as possible. He directed all the sections to work and finish the pending backlog.

The PMDC was dissolved through a presidential ordinance promulgated on Oct 9, 29, which paved the way for the establishment of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). Later, the Islamabad High Court declared the presidential ordinance null and void but government moved the Supreme Court.
