THE Pakistan Medical and Dental Council is the only institution mandated to regulate medical education in the country. Unfortunately, its affairs were marred by nepotism and corruption. This has forced Pakistani medical graduates to sit internal examinations and assessments in the countries where they wish to pursue post-graduate studies or practice their profession.

Second, contrary to the global practice of completing Continued Professional Development (CPD) hours to meet the renewal of registration requirements, the PMDC requires only the submission of an application and a fee for registration renewal.
