PM Imran meets Azerbaijan, Singapore leaders in Davos.

DAVOS -- Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday met Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) to discuss bilateral ties and thanked the central Asian country for continued support on the issue occupied Kashmir.

During the meeting, PM Imran also acknowledged the efforts of President Aliyev that had resulted in Azerbaijan voicing support for the people of occupied Kashmir at a meeting of a contact group of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation last year.

According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, PM Imran also briefed President Aliyev on the continuous human rights violations in occupied Kashmir by the government of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The premier told the Azerbaijani president of the 'devastating impact of the Indian Government's unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019, which were accompanied by an inhumane lockdown which continues to date'.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had revoked the constitutional autonomy of occupied Kashmir on August 5 and imposed a military curfew in the area, sending in hundreds of thousands of troops to crush dissent and imprisoning thousands of ordinary citizens.

In his meeting with the Azerbaijan President, PM Imran reiterated Pakistan's continued support for the central Asian country on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh.
