Plastic bags.

APROPOS the letter 'Plastic bags' (Oct 21). I have some suggestions that can address the writer's concerns.

First, plastic bags come in many shapes and sizes. Only small-size bags are banned and not the large ones. This in itself is a self-defeating exercise. Furthermore, there is no such thing as biodegradable plastic. Even this sort will turn into microns and evenutally enter the water and find its way into the food chain.

Second, supermarkets are already providing an alternative in the form of paper bags...
