Plasma donors disappointed by antibody test ban.

SWAT -- People who have recovered from Covid-19 and want to donate their plasma to the virus patients have said that they are disappointed as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has banned the antibody test.

According to the health department in Swat, as many as 1,200 of the 2,500 confirmed patients of Covid-19 have recovered so far. Many of them want to help the critically ill Covid-19 patients by donating their plasma.

'I wanted to donate my plasma to a Covid-19 patient who is in critical condition for which the doctors asked me to conduct antibody test so that the antibodies' existence could be checked in my blood,' said Mohammad Imran, a resident of Mingora who was infected by coronavirus and tested negative after 15 days.

He said he was disappointed to learn that the KP government had banned the antibody test.

'When I visited a laboratory I was told that the KP healthcare commission has banned the antibody test for Covid-19 which disappointed me as I cannot help the critically ill patients,' he said.
