Plantation drive sought in areas hit by fires.

SWABI -- Leaders of opposition parties and elders have demanded the provincial government to launch a special monsoon plantation campaign in the mountainous and plain regions of Swabi and other areas where the recent fire incidents destroyed precious trees and saplings.

They were speaking during a programme organised by the Swabi Electronic and Print Media Association on the 'upcoming plantation season and our responsibilities' here on Sunday.

Awami National Party's former provincial forest minister Awwal Sher Khan said that there was a need for a strong resolve to grow more trees and make the environment free of pollution with collective efforts.

Qaumi Watan Party's former tehsil naib nazim Mohammad Jamil advocate said that the forest department had failed to ensure the follow-up care of saplings after planting them and that's why various plantation projects could not achieve the desired goals.
