RAWALPINDI -- The Punjab government has so far released Rs7.147 billion for development schemes in the Rawalpindi Division under annual development programme out of which 71pc has been utilized so far.

This was informed in a meeting held with Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha in the chair.

Director Development Nazia Sudhan, Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority Saif Anwar Jappa, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Nabil Sindhu, Assistant Director Moazzam Ali, SE Highways, Building, National Highways and other departments concerned attended the meeting.

Under the Annual Development Programme 2022-23, 235 new schemes worth Rs94.564 billion have been launched in Rawalpindi Division.

Out of total allocated budget, funds of Rs7.147 billion have been released out of which 71pc have been utilised so far.

The commissioner directed the authorities concerned to give preference to the buildings of educational institutions and necessary action should be taken in all such buildings which have been declared dangerous.

Apart from this, he said measures should also be taken to complete the missing facilities in schools and to improve the educational standards.

'The policy guidelines given for these projects should be followed according to the law and timely completion should be ensured by using quality material as well as increasing the pace of work,' he said.
