PIA premier service cause loss of Rs 2.88 billion to national exchequer.

Islamabad -- On the directive and desire of former Prime Minster ,Nawaz Sharif started premier service flight operation from Pakistan to London, resulting in the services cause the loss of Rs 2882 million to public exchequer.

Pakistan international Airline (PIA) administration was compelled to pay Rs 973 million to London based 24 travel agents for introducing faulty fare policy without taking into the confidence of all stakeholders, it has been revealed in a report submitted to parliament committee. These agents knocked at the door of local court against the corruption riddled PIA administration and the judgment was passed in their favor and fined worth Rs 973 million was imposed on PIA after disposing off the litigation.

The government has initiated probe to identify the responsible of this debacle but after passing many years the officers responsible for such loss have not been identified and the case was put in the cold storage, the source divulged to online who is privy to the development regarding the corruption embedded in national carrier.

The report says that the officers deputed at London officer hired local law firms Clyde and company to counter the case and paid the firm heft amount Rs 235 million without observing the laws concerned and without taking law ministry into confidence which is necessary preceding to hire the services of law firm m, the source told.

The report which is now landed in the parliament reveals that London base senior officers of PIA were hand and gloves with the local agents and swindled public wealth by showing disrespect to the country laws and granting favors to the agents.

UK based travel agent Time Travel and Nottingham travel were also paid hefty amount Rs 102 million with non transparent manner and this issue is likely to be agitated by the parliamentary committee which is bent to probe the whole scam crooked up in London.
