PIA accused of overcharging passengers.

LOWER DIR -- A representative of overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia, Prof Shafiullah Khan, a resident of Malakand Kohery, on Sunday demanded of the government to take notice of high charges of PIA ticl(ets and order the airlines to restoreits previous airfares.

Talking to this correspondent from Riyadh on phone, Mr Shafiullah said the PIA was charging expatriates 3,500 Saudi Arabian Riyals (SAR) instead of 1,861 SAR. He welcomed the government`s decision to resume international flights for bringing back stranded Pakistanis from abroad, but said it should restore previous airfares of PIA.

He said that prolonged lockdown and joblessness had affected Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.

Mr Shafiullah claimed the Pakistan embassy in Riyadh had disappointed overseas Pakistanis as expatriates stood in long queues to get their tickets, but to no avail. He said the government was doing nothing practical to...
