Physical remand of four suspects extended in Effendi murder case.

KARACHI -- A local court on Thursday extended physical remand of four suspects detained in a case pertaining to the alleged murder of Zain Hasan Ali Effendi inside his Cosmopolitan Society house.

Initially, police booked five unidentified men over killing of 50-year-old Effendi, a great-grandson of founder of the Sindh Madressatul Islam, Hassan Ali Effendi, and maternal cousin of former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.

Later, three suspects - Rehmatullah, Imran, Mohammad Gul and Faizan - were taken into custody over their alleged involvement in the murder.

On Thursday, the investigating officer (IO) produced the four detained suspects before a judicial magistrate (East) on expiry of their physical remand in police custody and for the extension in the same.

The IO mentioned that the fourth suspect Faizan was recently arrested for allegedly providing a mobile SIM card to the other suspects.
