PFUJ welcomes SC verdict in Justice Isa reference.

SUKKUR -- The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has hailed quashment of the presidential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa, describing it as mala fide and an attempt to tarnish the image of a judge of the apex court.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday, PFUJ president Shazada Zulfiqar, vice president Lala Asad Pathan and secretary general Nasir Zaidi said that PFUJ was a party in the case seeking withdrawal of the reference against the senior judge of the Supreme Court.

They said PFUJ had always stood up for the independence of the judiciary and would remain committed for its independence in the future as well. `We will not allow negative tactics against any judge,` they added.
