People block road after death in police raid.

TOBA TEK SINGH -- A man was allegedly tortured to death by police in Gojra Chak 367-JB, Jalianwala, in wee hours on Monday.

The family put the body on the Gojra-Samundri bypass and blocked it for traffic by setting tyres on fire as protest.

Waqar Masih, son of deceased Younis Masih, told reporters that his father was a witness in a murder case and the accused party firstly offered Rs3 million to him to withdraw as witness but when his father refused to do so they arranged a police raid with the connivance of Faisalabad police head-constable Muhammad Arif who actually belonged to Gojra to implicate his father and other family members in a narcotics case.

He said accused policeman Arif and his other accomplices forced their entry into the house by climbing from the outer wall and beat his father. As a result he was injured.

When he was being taken to hospital, he succumbed to his wounds. Protesters demanded registration of a murder case...
