PCMEA demands withdrawal of power tariff hike for export sector.

LAHORE -- Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) on Sunday demanded the government withdraw increase in electricity tariff for export sector, enabling Pakistan's products to be competitive in the international markets.

Chairing the weekly review meeting of the Association here, Senior Vice Chairman Usman Ashraf expressed concerns over the decision of increasing electricity tariff by Rs 12.13 per unit for the export sector, apprehending that this move would have adverse impact on the country's export volume and competitiveness in global market.

Senior Central Leader Abdul Latif Malik, Carpet Training Institute (CTI) Chairman Ijazur Rehman, senior members Riaz Ahmed, Pervez Hanif, Saeed Khan, Major (retd) Akhtar Nazir, Akbar Malik, Shahid Hassan, Umeer Usman, Daniyal Hanif, Faisal Saeed Khan and others attended the meeting.

Usman Ashraf said the government wanted to increase its exports from US$30 billion to $100 billion in next five to eight years for which maximum facilitation of the exporters was need of the hour.
