Patients admitted to DHQ hospital complain about lack of facilities.

TAXILA -- Covid-19 patients admitted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Attock on Thursday alleged that doctors were not attending them and there was also a paucity of facilities.

The patients told newsmen on phone that since they were isolated after testing positive, no physician had visited them and even paramedics on duty were reluctant to give treatment to them. They alleged that doctors on duty never came to the isolation ward and instead some of them had contacted them on their phones and inquired about their symptoms, condition and status of their health.

They claimed that keeping in isolation without any visit by physicians could cause depression and anxiety among them.

They also alleged that physicians appointed for the isolation ward on papers were being given extra remuneration as frontline workers against Covid-19 but actually they had never visited the ward let alone treating the patients.

It has been observed that a large number of staff members at the DHQ hospital are performing duties without any personal protective equipment (PPE).

Some officials of the DHQ hospital while talking to this reporter have blamed the government and provincial health authorities for not doing enough to protect them.

A doctor told this reporter that their role in the fight against the virus had been underestimated due to the lack of adequate protection.
