Parliamentary Committee meeting regarding appointment of CEC and members of ECP to be held today.

ISLAMABAD -- Parliamentary Committee meeting regarding appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will be held today (Monday) at Parliament House.

The parliamentary committee meeting has been delayed four times due to the differences of government and opposition. The opposition has objected that in the presence of Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad the disputed elections were held so he is not acceptable. Meanwhile the government has rejected the objections of opposition.

According to a report it was decided in the consultative meeting that the government will reply to opposition whether two members of ECP nominated by opposition are acceptable or not against appointment of government nominee as Chief Election Commissioner. So far the deadlock is present between government and opposition. The opposition has opposed the name of Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad as CEC. Opposition has demanded that the government should present other name in place of Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad.
